In 1975 the Suwasetha Sewa Society was established as a government approved charity. The main objective of this charity is to protect and empower children, adolescents, the disabled, and elders through:
- Nutrition and residential care for children suffering from malnutrition, orphaned and abandoned children
- Residential facilities for teenage victims of sexual abuse
- Vocational training for young females with disabilities
- Community-based rehabilitation programs for persons with disabilities
Currently there are in active operation
- 9 Child Development Centres (Children Homes) including the Masevana Home for Teenage Mothers
- 5 Pre-schools
- 5 Centres with services available to differently-abled persons
- 3 elderly homes
