Sarvodaya Womens Movement

Sarvodaya Kulagana Sansadaya is a local NGO in Sri Lanka that was initiated in 1987 as a subsidiary branch of the Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement and registered as an independent organization in 2001.

It offers services in social, economic, cultural, political, and philosophical development of women, girls, and children across the country and builds awareness on rights and issues commonly faced. Capacity building in sustainability and resilience is another core focus area and is carried out through livelihood and empowerment programmes.  

Sarvodaya Kulagana Sansadaya works with families, communities, and partners to help meet the needs of those affected through a participator approach, with the aim of empowering individuals and communities to take ownership of their development journey.

To provide women with opportunity and direction to assume their rightful place in society and realize their aspirations, hopes and strengths and the vision of empower women by generating awareness of women’s rights and women’s issues.  To build the capabilities of women through assisting them to acquire knowledge and skills in a holistic manner that will enable greater self-reliance and responsibility.
