Sarvodaya Felicitation for 88th Birthday Celebration of Rev.Takeyasu Miyamoto

Sarvodaya leader Dr.A.T.Ariyaratne, Dr.Vinya Ariyaratne, Executive Director and Mr.Subesena de Silva attended the 88th Birthday Celebration of Rev.Takeyasu Miyamoto, Leader of Myochikai, President of Arigatou Foundation and Founder of Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC), which was held in Tokyo on 14th May 2005. The celebrations were held at the Myochikai Headquarters and the formal reception was held at Hotel Okura in Tokyo. Dr.A.T.Ariyaratne presented Rev.Miyamoto a momento from Sri Lanka while Dr.Vinya Ariyaratne presented Rev.Miyamoto a painting by the renowned Sri Lankan Artist Jayasiri Semage depicting “Mother and Child” in appreciation of his contributions to the wellbeing of children around the world.

In May 2000, at the initiative of Rev. Takeyasu Miyamoto, President of the Arigatou Foundation, some 300 religious people from various religions including Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism gathered from 33 of the world’s countries to establish the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) at its First Forum. They aimed to make a new contribution from the religious perspective through collaboration and cooperation among people of faith engaged in activities for children, and to go beyond that by cooperating not only with religious people, but with all of the world’s people, to develop a global movement to create a better environment for children in the 21st century. Sarvodaya serves as the Secretariat for South Asian activities of GNRC.
