Strengthening Social Cohesion in Sri Lanka

Project Overview

The “Strengthening Social Cohesion in Sri Lanka” project, in partnership with The Asia Foundation aims to build capacity for local civil society organizations (CSOs) focusing on strengthening women’s networks and movements to ensure that local communities, particularly women and girls, and marginalized groups, benefit from greater social cohesion and improved community resilience in Sri Lanka. Under this project, strengthening social cohesion is understood as enabling a safe and secure environment for all communities, especially youth, women, and girls, through equitable access to local information and services, inclusive engagement in decision-making, and a strengthened sense of civic education and civic responsibility.

Participating CSOs will be capacitated to take tangible actions to address common challenges and share lessons learned. To be eligible for the project, they should be registered in Sri Lanka and be not-for-profit entities. They must be based and operating in one of the following districts: Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Ampara, Jaffna, Mannar, Kalutara, Kurunegala, Kandy, Badulla, and Galle.
