Promote interaction and a cohesive environment among community platforms to constructively engage in reconciliation processes

Project Overview
The Social Cohesion and Reconciliation Activity (SCORE) is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Global Communities in partnership with the Ministry of Justice, Government of Sri Lanka, as well as government entities, civil society, and the private sector. The purpose of SCORE is to strengthen Sri-Lankan-led efforts to advance social cohesion and reconciliation and support Sri Lankan-led efforts to build a more inclusive and resilient society.
The Problem
In districts where there has been a history of violence or where multiple causes of conflict have converged have led to increasingly marginalized communities, exposing them to a host risks.
The Solution
As the local implementing agency active at the grassroots level, Sarvodaya supports the SCORE project team in reaching its three primary objectives through a community driven approach.
1. Promote a cohesive Sri Lankan identity through governmental and non-governmental initiatives
2. Reduce socio-economic disparities by supporting sustainable economic development and service delivery among marginalized and conflict-affected communities and populations
3. Enhance community resilience through psychosocial support and capacity building
The Impact
The project will foster an environment in which communities engage constructively in reconciliation processes, recovery and resettlement of conflict affected populations are advanced, and accessibility to psychosocial and trauma healing services is improved. Marginalized communities will see improved economic opportunities, and youth and women will furthermore have access to more opportunities to exercise leadership.
