Sarvodaya’s Moratuwa headquarters has seen several days of busy sorting, packing, and dispatching truckloads of relief supplies to the affected areas. In total we have dispatched over 70 lorries, carrying food supplies, toiletries, medical supplies, baby care items, housewares, and emergency shelter materials.
The supplies are distributed via Sarvodaya’s local district offices throughout the affected areas. Teams of volunteers and Sarvodaya workers travel with the shipments, carrying back reports of the devastation and crucial news of the peoples’ developing needs.
Using our contacts in the field and a growing team of volunteers at headquarters, Sarvodaya is working to develop a comprehensive plan for meeting immediate as well as long-term needs.
