Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne, the Executive Director of Sarvodaya recently visited Padaviya. Sarvodaya is currently constructing mini-surgical theater at Padaviya District Hospital on the request of Ministry of Health which will cost approximately 3.2 million rupees. Presently, Padaviya District Hospital caters hundreds of injured among the IDPs who are directed to Padaviya for medical assistance. Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne and Dr. Mahinda, the District Medical Officer of Padaviya District Hospital had brief discussion on immediate needs of the patients treated at the hospital and their relatives accompanying them including children.
Sarvodaya Rural technical Services has undertaken the construction and Deputy Executive Director (Technical Services) Ms. Udani Mendis too joined the visit.
Additionally, Sarvodaya has distributed NFRI including clothes, mats, soap and shampoo, bed sheets, towels etc. among the IDP patients and their families who were directed to Padaviya Hospital, approximately worth of 500,000 SLR.
