Virtusans globally contributed to the Virtusa Relief Fund (VRF), which was set up in December 2004 to assist tsunami victims. While part of the funds was used towards immediate relief, the rest is currently being directed towards concrete projects aimed at restoring livelihoods and rebuilding programs. One such program, the livelihood development program for the ornamental fish industry, was initiated by the Postgraduate Institute of Management and aims to re-establish the livelihoods of three small scale fish export businesses in Madihe, Matara. A total of Rs.1, 150,000/- donated by Virtusans to Sarvodaya will be channeled to this project, and Sarvodaya will conduct the post implementation, monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure the sustainability and continuity of the project.
