Sarvodaya takes over the management of Cooperation for Industrial Development Lanka (Private) Limited (COOPID)


Sarvodaya took over the management of COOPID, a smallholder agricultural production company, processing factory based in the Industrial Zone in Nalanda, Mathale. The company produces wide range of products of organic and conventional agricultural produce including Sri Lankan spices, traditional rice, and herbal beverages under the trade name ‘COOPID’ and ‘COOPBIO’.
The venture works closely with the small holder farmer communities in the area including the Matale Small & Medium Organic Farmers Cooperative Society. The MoU was signed by Mr. Niroshan Kurera, of COOPID and Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne of Sarvodaya on the 01st of January 2016. This effort will enhance the production capacity and market linkages of the smallholder farming communities in the district.
