The village of Serupitiya is a rural hamlet in the Nuwara Eliya District in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. Clean drinking water has been an acute need for this community for a very long time. The Sarvodaya Rural Technical Services (SRTS) with the financial assistance of Helvetas (Switzerland) designed and constructed a gravity fed water scheme which would provide safe drinking water to 108 families. The people of this village suffered a great deal due to the long distance they had to travel to get safe drinking water.
