EU Women Parliamentarians Visit Sarvodaya Projects

A group of women Parliamentarians from the European Union visited various projects related to reproductive health in the districts of Hambantota and Galle. The Eight Parliamentarians who were touring the Tsunami affected Southern districts were received by the Executive Director Dr.Vinya Ariyaratne and the district staff at the Sarvodaya District Centre in Hambantota on 5th August 2005.

The Parliamentarians included MPs from Portugal, Lithuania, the Green Party and the Scottish Parliament. Dr.Ariyaratne presented to the Parliamentarians an overview of Sarvodaya and its reproductive health related activities including its programme to address gender based violence in Sri Lanka.

The Parliamentarians also visited a Sarvodaya village in Galle where an EU funded project on Reproductive Health Initiative in Asia (RHIYA) is being implemented.
