Today Ms. Lokitha, Coordinator for Legal Aid Services in the Batticaloa District came to Sarvodaya HQ today and briefed the Web Team. The programs she is running in Batticaloa collect data and documentation on the displaced persons, many of whom have lost birth and marriage certificates, etc. Sarvodaya Legal Aid collects the data and helps everyone navigate the process of getting new documents from the Registrar.
Sarvodaya also operates the Mind Risk Education (MRI) program, sponsored by UNICEF. This program provides trauma counselling, group activities for children as a part of Sarvodaya’s plan for Spiritual Healing.
In other news, an Oxfam sponsored water and sanitation program carried out by Sarvodaya in Vakarai Division, Batticaloa was damaged beyond repair and Sarvodaya is consulting its partners to restart this essential endeavour.
