The CTI presents villagers with the opportunity to develop new skills as well as a sustainable income. It is important that we provide professional training for those who host our visitors. A training manual has been developed in association with experts from the Austrian NGO, Hilfswerk Austria, and training is now underway to cover such areas as housekeeping, food preparation, hygiene, local marketing and health & safety. Each person directly involved with a CTI project will receive appropriate training and a certificate to recognise their training. English classes are also underway in some of the project sites and the CTI has published a guide to Sinhala/English with useful phrases, the days of the week, numbers etc. This will be made available to visitors and villagers alike.
