New British High Commissioner Visits Sarvodaya Headquarters

The new British High Commission to Sri Lanka His Excellency Dominick Chilcott accompanied by his wife Mrs.Jane Chilcott, visited the Sarvodaya Headquarters on 8th May 2006 with a delegation from the British Council Colombo. The British Council delegation was led by its present Director in Sri Lanka Mr.Tony O’Brien and the incoming Director Ms.Gillian Westway (currently Director of the British Council in the Philippines), Ms.Ranmali Mirchandani, the Arts Manager and Ms.Sanjeewani Munasinghe, the Projects and Training Coordinator.

World Bank Vice President Visits Sarvodaya Village

Dr.Praful Patel, Regional Vice President of the World Bank for South Asia, visited the Sarvodaya village Pore, located in Athurugiriya in the outskirts of Colombo, on 17th May 2006. The World Bank Vice President and Mr.Peter Harrold, Country Director of World Bank for Sri Lanka were welcomed by the President and the other officials of the Pore Society.

Sarvodaya Launches “Fusion” – Networking Grassroots Movement

It had been a memorable evening for Sarvodaya. In front of Global ICT4D audience, Sarvodaya proudly launched its next phase of ICT4D program – named as Fusion. Stunning images of Fusion Logo slowly appeared on the screen in the midst of Drum Fusion, the cultural pageant of Sri Lankan artists.

MAST Industries’ Initiatives with Sarvodaya Suwasetha

MAST Industries started working with Suwasetha in 2005 with the sponsorship of the renovation and reconstruction of two Sarvodaya Suwasetha children’s homes: the Galle Girls’ home and the Baddegama Boys’ home. However MAST’s work with Suwasetha has since expanded in scope with the many programs of support they offer to the children at these homes. These programs strive to develop the children socially, educationally and emotionally, and as well try to increase the comfort and attractiveness of their surroundings.
