Sarvodaya would like to thank the rock band, The Violent Femmes for arranging a fund-raising concert. This is the statement from their website.

Violent Femmes would like to invite the Wisconsin fans to help us in raising money to help rebuild Sri Lanka after the devastation of the recent tsunami.

There are many worthwhile charities working in the area but we have chosen Sarvodaya upon direct recommendation from Arthur C. Clarke. Our particular interest in Sri Lanka is because of the Femmes’ personal connection with Sri Lanka through my wife, Dr. Varuni Kulasekera and her family. I have visited Sri Lanka on several occasions. It’s a beautiful place with open and happy people. The children in particular are sweet and unspoiled. It’s a sad and tragic thing to observe their suffering through the eyes of the international media.

Sam Llanas has been kind enough to agree to open the show. We are also receiving support from the WKLH, The Onion, Time Warner Cable, The Wyndham Hotel, Milwaukee Stagehands Union, Pabst Theater, Hanson/Dodge Graphics , Casio Music. We hope to see you there. It will be a great time for a great cause!

Thank You Violent Femmes!
