Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne would like to thank the United Sri Lanka Association of New Zealand for their generous donation of Rs. 1,000,000 (10,000 USD).
“Sri Lankans of all ethnic and religious groups from the wider NZ community have generously contributed to this fund, and have identified your organization to be the best recipient of this contribution at this hour of need. It is their desire that your organization make use of these funds for medicine, water, and sanitation needs for the Tsunami affected people, in all four corners of our beloved country, without any discrimination.
This contribution is just an introductory measure as part of a larger contribution from the NZ Community, who are keen to watch the progress of distribution of aid.
We would appreciate if you would establish a robust feedback process to enlighten the community of the assistance provided.
In addition, USLA would be happy to arrange for NZ Residents (Sri Lankans) now in Sri Lanka to oversee and monitor the distribution so that they could constantly keep the NZ community well informed.
Many Volunteer Groups in Sri Lanka have already contaced USLA seeking support for those affected by the Tsunami in various ways. I would appreciate if you could advise them to contact your organization to find out how best they could contribute in assisting your humanitarian program.
USLA was formed in 1983 with the prime objective of keeping all Sri Lankans United and in this hour of need are happy to be associated with your organization in its meritorious effort of providing aid.
